Acupuncture

Acupuncture is based on the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It serves to maintain good health as well as to treat medical conditions by returning the body to its dynamic state of balance.

A wide variety of acute and chronic conditions can be managed by acupuncture. It can be used to treat musculoskeletal and pain related conditions, digestive problems, neurological conditions, stress related disorders and also to maintain good health.

Our Services

Acupuncture is a widely-used treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It helps to maintain good health and treat various medical conditions by restoring the body's state of balance. Needles are inserted at specific points in the body to stimulate the body’s natural healing responses. Research has shown that acupuncture can improve blood circulation and trigger the release of natural painkillers.

Acupuncture treats a wide variety of conditions. Some have been listed by the World Health Organization. This list is by no means exhaustive; please consult our acupuncturists to learn more:

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the treatment like?

Fine stainless steel needles are inserted at specific acu-points in the body. Heat or electrical stimulation may be used to boost the therapeutic effect. The treatment lasts for about 15-20 minutes.

Does the treatment hurt?

Very fine needles are used in acupuncture so most people feel little or no pain. There may be temporary soreness, numbness and heaviness along the needling site that are indications that the point has been activated. Patients often feel energised or relaxed after the treatment.

Are the needles sterilised?

We use pre-sterilised, individually-packed disposable needles, which minimise the chances of infection.

How do I prepare for the treatment?

  • Bring along your identification document and relevant past medical records or films.
  • Do not come on an empty stomach or eat a heavy meal before the treatment.
  • Wear comfortable clothes.

How many sessions do I need?

This varies with every individual. The acupuncturist will discuss with you the treatment plan on your first visit. In general, chronic conditions will require more sessions.

How do I make an appointment?

A referral is required. We accept referrals from any doctor or dentist, including family physicians, specialists from private or restructured hospitals indicating the referred condition. An appointment may be made via the hotline after the referral is obtained.
