What is the treatment like?
Fine stainless steel needles are inserted at specific acu-points in the body. Heat or electrical stimulation may be used to boost the therapeutic effect. The treatment lasts for about 20 minutes, after which the needles are removed. If cupping is required, the cups will be left on for about 5 minutes.
Does the treatment hurt?
Very fine needles are used in acupuncture so most people feel little or no pain. There may be temporary soreness. Patients often feel energised or relaxed after the treatment. Cupping is usually painless.
Are the needles sterilised?
We use pre-sterilised, individually-packed disposable needles, which minimise the chances of infection.
How do I prepare for the treatment?
- Bring along your identification document and relevant past medical records or films.
- Do not come on an empty stomach or eat a heavy meal before the treatment.
- Wear comfortable clothes.
How many sessions do I need?
This varies with every individual. The therapist will discuss with you the treatment plan on your first visit. In general, chronic conditions will require more sessions.
