Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) has a longstanding tradition of providing high quality clinical training to our learners, aiming to groom them to become outstanding healthcare professionals, who will serve the community with passion and be future leaders in healthcare. In collaboration with the National Healthcare Group (NHG) and the Ministry of Health (MOH), our residents and trainees are immersed in a diverse and stimulating learning environment augmented by an experienced teaching faculty, and a comprehensive range of medical services.

Residents and trainees are further supported by a broad range of administrative services provided by a team of dedicated program coordinators under the Graduate Medical Education (GME) office at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) led by Dr Phua Eng Joo (Associate Designated Institutional Official, NHG Residency).

The National PGY1 Training at KTPH includes rotations in General Medicine, General Surgery and Orthopaedics Surgery. Our experienced faculty is dedicated to teaching and mentoring the next generation of doctors. Our aim is to create a supportive environment for the development of junior doctors by providing a structured and broad-based education in General Medicine, General Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery.

The following training programmes aim to provide trainees with the opportunity to develop their ability to deliver appropriate care to patients, through the learning and support from our experienced faculty and to enable them to qualify for exit as a specialist.

KTPH Sports Medicine Centre (SMC) hosts the Lee Kong Chian (LKC) School of Medicine Graduate Diploma in Sports Medicine. This is a year long program aimed at practicing doctors at the postgraduate level with an interest in sports medicine. The students are attached to the centre for 20 hours of clinical attachment during the program. This is an important part of the program which KTPH SMC participates in.

KTPH SMC sees about 10-12 students each year in this program with rotations to different areas within our multidisciplinary centre including sports and exercise medicine, sports surgery, physiotherapy, podiatry, acupuncture and sports dietetics.
