We perform endoscopy for cancer screening in patients whom have an increased risk of gastrointestinal cancers (eg. history of polyps, more than 50 years old, family history of gastrointestinal cancers).

The Gastroenterology & Hepatology unit of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital treats both local and international patients who present to us with digestive and liver-related problems. We also routinely perform gastric and colorectal cancer screening for people who have significant risk factors.

We utilise an array of diagnostic tools such as laboratory tests, modern scanners and advanced endoscopic imaging modalities to aid in the management of our patients’ complex medical conditions.

We are able to investigate, diagnose and treat the whole spectrum of lung diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, pleural effusion and other pleural diseases, primary and secondary lung cancer, tuberculosis, bronchiectasis, pulmonary fibrosis and other interstitial lung diseases, occupational lung diseases and obstructive sleep apnoea.

Our investigative capability includes:

• Full lung function testing (spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, body plethysmography, methacholine challenge test, exercise testing, overnight polysomnography and CPAP titration
• Radiological examinations such as CT scan, MRI and ultrasound
• CT guided aspiration or biopsy of effusions or tumours

Respiratory physicians also look after the Intensive Care Unit, where we take care of critically ill patients who require intensive haemodynamic, respiratory monitoring, treatment with inotropic support and mechanical ventilation.
