Corporate Profile

Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH), a 795-bed general and acute care hospital, opened in June 2010. Serving more than 550,000 people living in the northern sector of Singapore, KTPH combines medical expertise with high standards of personalised care, set within a healing environment, to provide care that is good enough for our own loved ones.

From intuitive wayfinding to logical clustering of services, KTPH's design is focused on providing a comfortable and hassle-free experience for patients. The building has garnered numerous awards for its green and energy efficient design, with wards that have views of greenery and naturally cool air. KTPH also provides a wide range of outpatient specialist services.

KTPH is part of Yishun Health, a network of medical institutions and health facilities under the National Healthcare Group in the north of Singapore, which also includes Yishun Community Hospital and community extensions such as Wellness Kampung and Admiralty Medical Centre.

Community of Care

At Yishun Health, we believe that healthcare should be integrated, holistic and person-centric. This is the ethos that has shaped the way we deliver care as we continue to move away from the traditional model of illness-focused care to one that is around a patient, taking into consideration his or her needs, aspirations and personhood.

Our care spans across our medical specialties, disciplines and expertise in Admiralty Medical Centre, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Yishun Community Hospital. This ecosystem of care also includes partnerships within the community.

Together with our patients, their families and caregivers, we co-create team-based healthcare that goes beyond episodic treatments. We help our patients and population in the North stay healthy, manage their diseases well, and become active participants of their own well-being. This broadens our roles as a healthcare campus, forming our community of care.

Our Healing Environment

hospital healing environment

“A hospital in a garden”. “A garden in a hospital”. Set amidst lush greenery, KTPH is designed to help our patients to rest and recover as they find comfort in the soothing surroundings. Open communal spaces and easy access enable people to move and mingle freely.

Our eco-friendly buildings are planned for natural light and ventilation. Complementing these are energy-efficient features like rooftop gardens and solar panels, and green practices to minimise our carbon footprint. All these have won us accolades and recognition as a hospital with a healing environment.

Our History & Milestones

2001 - 2010: Inception to Official Opening

In October 2001, the government announced plans for a new general hospital to serve the growing population in the north of Singapore. In 2003, then Minister for Health, Mr Khaw Boon Wan, confirmed the new hospital will be located in Yishun and challenged the team in Alexandra Hospital* to rebuild the hospital at the new location.

In May 2007, the family of the late hotelier and banker, Mr Khoo Teck Puat, donated $125 million towards the building of the hospital and the welfare of patients in financial need. Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) was named in recognition of their contribution.

The completion of KTPH was marked by a topping-out ceremony in June 2009 and KTPH was officially opened by the late Minister Mentor, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, on 15 November 2010.
