SPECIALTIES & SERVICES

Sports Medicine

Situated in northern Singapore, KTPH Sports Medicine Centre specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal/exercise-related conditions and sports injuries, as well as health problems relating to sports and exercise, through a coordinated team approach to sports medicine.

Our experienced team consists of dedicated sports medicine physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, sports physiotherapists and nurses.  As sportspeople ourselves, we have the knowledge and experience to effectively manage sports injuries.

Using the latest equipment, such as biodex isokinetic dynamometer, electromyographic (EMG) machine, and gait analysis walkway, we can assess the nature and extent of your sports injury efficiently.

Through our integrated approach we help people return to their athletic and sporting activities so they can continue achieving their health and fitness goals.

KTPH Sports Medicine Centre offers an extensive range of services to treat your injuries:

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is based on the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It serves to maintain good health as well as to treat medical conditions by returning the body to its dynamic state of balance. It involves inserting fine disposable needles into acupuncture points that are left in place for 20 to 30 minutes.

A wide variety of acute and chronic conditions can be managed by acupuncture. It can be used to treat musculoskeletal and pain related conditions, digestive problems, neurological conditions, stress related disorders and also to maintain good health.

Biomechanical Assessment

Biomechanical assessment involves body alignment and motion assessment to aid the detection of biomechanical problems, which may lead to many musculoskeletal injuries

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy or ESWT is a non-invasive outpatient procedure that delivers ultrasound-guided shock waves applied externally into the tissue to be treated. These would include conditions such as plantar fasciitis, enthesiopathies, and tendinopathies such as Achilles tendonitis, patellar tendonitis and tennis elbow.

The ESWT is a safe and effective treatment for patients who have failed conservative non-surgical treatment for the above conditions and provides an alternative to surgical intervention.

Musculoskeletal Screening

Conducted by our physiotherapists, this screening program examines the bones, muscles, and other soft tissues for alignment, control, strength and flexibility to identify some of the risk factors that may predispose you to developing sports related injuries. Learn about your own risk factors and how to prevent injuries and enhance your sporting performance.
