The past and present generations got together on 29 August 2014 in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) for a heartwarming tribute to the forebears and pioneers of today’s Alexandra Health System. Mentors were reunited with their former protégés and colleagues renewed old friendships with one another as reminiscences poured forth readily at the event titled “Our People, Our Home: A Tribute to our Pioneers”. About 110 pioneers attended the event which was graced by Senior Minister of State (Health), Dr Amy Khor.
“前人种树,后人乘凉” (one generation plants the trees, and the next generation enjoys the shade) is a saying that embodies how the pioneers blazed a trail for Alexandra Health staff. Alexandra Hospital’s history makers of yesteryear had set a benchmark of quality and excellence for the current leaders and staff of Alexandra Health to emulate.
As the cluster continues to grow – with Yishun Community Hospital, Admiralty Medical Centre and the Woodlands Health Campus coming into its fold –the legacy of Alexandra Health’s pioneers will not be forgotten, promised Group CEO Mr Liak Teng Lit. “We have retained the name Alexandra Health so that we can retain our heritage. All the good things [our pioneers] had done in the past, we will remember and learn from them…The future is bright for Alexandra Health System as we continue to grow… We will build on your legacy, and I believe we will not disappoint you.”
