KTPH Graduate Medical Education Unit

Set up in 2010, the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Unit in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital coordinates the medical residency postgraduate education where trainees will qualify as medical specialists. We partner with Tan Tock Seng Hospital under the National Healthcare Group (NHG), to provide a rich training ground and experience for residents.

As a cluster, NHG trained about 607 residents in academic year 2018 - [NHG Annual Report, AY2018/2019]

In Singapore, within the residency training programme lies the elite Singapore Chief Residency Programme (SCRP) which aims to prepare tomorrow’s physicians to lead, educate, manage and think through a systems lens to meet organisational needs. This will include collaborating within and across organisations and assume key clinical, administrative and educational leadership roles within their organisations. We are proud that amongst the alumni, a number of the SCRP graduates have joined us as KTPH faculty.

We provide Basic/Advanced/Seamless Specialist Training (BST/AST) for Palliative Medicine, Sports Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Chemical Pathology and Dermatology. In addition, we also partner with MOH for the National Pharmacy Residency Programme in Cardiology and Geriatric Medicine.

KTPH is also an accredited training institution for the National Postgraduate Year-1 (PGY1) Training. The National PGY1 Training brings together the dedicated teaching faculty of both Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). The program aims to create a supportive environment for the development of junior doctors, by providing a structured and broad-based training curriculum.
