Gastroenterology Senior Residency ProgramGastro Team

The KTPH-NHG Gastroenterology Senior Residency program combines teaching at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) and our sponsoring institute, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). This is a 3-year program whereby all Senior Residents are rotated between both hospitals. This highly structured program will enable you to practice as an independent board certified Gastroenterologist upon successful completion.

Program Outline

The 3-year program focuses on the fields of Endoscopy, Gastroenterology and Hepatology. All Senior Residents will spend time in both KTPH and TTSH. We have arranged a compulsory attachment with the Liver Transplant Unit at National University Hospital as well. These rotations will expose you to a variety of cases, while tapping on the strengths of different Gastroenterology and Hepatology units to achieve a comprehensive learning experience.

Our training program is compliant with the stringent requirements of the ACGME. Training consists of supervised clinic sessions, inpatient ward rounds, clinical consults, endoscopy sessions, sub-specialty Hepatology clinics, X-ray Conferences, Journal Clubs, Grand Rounds and E-learning/ Didactic Teaching, etc.

Endoscopy is one of the key pillars of KTPH Gastroenterology. As a Senior Resident, you will have ample opportunity for hands-on training in both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, It is our objective that Gastroenterology Senior Residents achieve endoscopic excellence and independence upon completion of their training.

Research and Conference Opportunities

Senior Residents can expect to share their findings at national level Gastroenterology conferences (such as the annual GI Hep Conference), and also at regional and international platforms.

Senior Residents will have the opportunity to attend both local and overseas Gastroenterology and Hepatology conferences. As our priority is to have Senior Residents engaged in learning, you will have the opportunity to attend Gastroenterology CME activities held outside our hospital as well.
