Ophthalmology Overview

The Ophthalmology Residency Program in Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital (KTPH), is part of the NHG Ophthalmology Residency Program, which aims to train well-rounded ophthalmologists who are well versed in a wide variety of eye conditions, and are competent in ocular surgery.

EYE Dept.

Our department is a small and friendly unit with 5 full-time consultants. In KTPH, there will be considerable exposure to comprehensive ophthalmology as well as various sub-specialties: vitreoretinal surgery, medical retina, orbital and oculoplastic surgery, paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, and cornea. Surgical exposure is afforded to both residents and non-trainee doctors.

There are regular formal morning tutorials, which cover topical teaching, case presentations, FFA (Fundus Fluorescein Angiography) rounds and journal clubs. Time off is afforded for residents to attend national teaching rounds. Research is encouraged in our department and we have a history of frequent publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
