Dr Goh Kian Peng has served in a number of key positions as Consultant at the Department of Medicine, specialising in endocrinology and diabetes mellitus. He was the driver for the Diabetic Exercise Programme and Inpatient Diabetes Programme before accepting his current role as the Associate Programme Director (APD) for the NHG-AHPL Internal Medicine Residency Programme. Following his post-graduate training in both Endocrinology and Family Medicine, he was awarded the Human Manpower Development Programme Fellowship in 2007, during which he was attached to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and also obtained a MSC in Molecular Exercise Physiology at the University of Aberdeen in UK. While holding teaching and administrative posts, he is also the Principal Investigator for several NMRC research grants. His main research interests are the roles and molecular adaptation of exercise in the treatment and prevention of chronic diseases.

Clinical Professor Rajasoorya is a Senior Consultant in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. Besides Internal Medicine, his sub interests are in pituitary adrenal disorders as well as endocrine causes of hypertension. He was a Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Fellow in Endocrinology at the University of Auckland (New Zealand) as well as a Visiting Clinician at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester), University of Virginia and University of Oregon in the United States. He currently chairs the Specialty Training Committee in Endocrinology as well and the Transitional Year Residents Review Committee. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and Edinburgh. His other special interests are in the teaching and training of doctors.

As a distinguished clinician who has made outstanding contributions as a clinician-educator, Prof Raja has been an inspiration to several cohorts of medical students for the past 20 years or more. They have all benefited from his outstanding teaching ability and dedication. Many have been taught personally during their postings under his tutelage. He was appointed Associate Clinical Professor in 2001, a Full Clinical Professor in 2009, and has assumed the role of mentor, excellent teacher, a great motivator with a most enthusiastic devotion to the promotion of the educational objectives of the University and Ministry of Health. His teaching enthusiasm is not limited to medical students. He is equally adept and inspiring in teaching basic trainees and advanced trainees, and several generations of physicians have Prof Raja to thank for success in their postgraduate or exit examinations.

He lectures to NUS medical students, is a regular examiner for the Final MBBS, the MRCP PACES, the exits in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, and the MMed(Family Medicine). The Dean’s award for teaching excellence was awarded to him in 2006/2007. He is internationally recognized as an endocrinologist and has written seminal research papers on Acromegaly which are always quoted in the literature. He has continued to contribute to the local and international literature and is a much sought after speaker.  He made contributions as the editor of the Singapore Medical Journal for many years and as a guest reviewer for other journals.

Professor Rajasoorya has also demonstrated excellence in teaching, leadership, flair and inspiration in so many ways.  He will continue to pursue his passion, as it is indeed a passion with him that he will remain an inspiration for future generations of students and trainees to look up to as a role model and as someone who is so willing to share his skills, knowledge, experience and philosophy.

Dr Phoa Lee Lan is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Medicine. She attained her postgraduate qualification for internal medicine in NUS School of Postgraduate Medicine and Royal College of Physicians (UK). She is also an accredited respiratory specialist proficient in general respiratory medicine and critical care medicine. She sub-specialises in asthma, airway allergy and chronic cough. She went on Health Manpower Development Plan fellowship to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Woolcock Institute in Sydney, Australia.

Trained in internal medicine and a specialist in respiratory and critical care medicine. She is a Clinical Lecturer for Yong Loo Lin Medical School in NUS, ACLS instructor and FCCS instructor for Society of Critical Care Medicine. Currently she is a consultant respiratory physician in the Department of Medicine in Alexandra Hospital. Her respiratory subspecialty is asthma and airway allergy.

Dr Marilyn Lee

Dr Lee is an associate consultant in the Deparment of Medicine. She graduated from St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry in the UK, and obtained her post graduate qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians (London). She is involved in general medicine as well as endocrinology work and her areas of interests include reproductive endocrinology as well as pituitary and adrenal disorders.

Dr Phua Eng Joo is an Associate Consultant with the Department of General Medicine. As an accredited Endocrinologist, Dr Phua’s subspecialty interest lies in diabetes mellitus and its attendant complications. He is a member of several academic organizations including the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (United Kingdom) and is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine (Chapter of Endocrinologists), Singapore.

Dr Phua is also closely involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education. Apart from being an appointed clinical tutor with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore) and the Module Lead for Medicine (Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine), he actively participates in clinical teaching and plans the curriculum for the Endocrinology advanced specialist trainees in his unit.

Dr Lawrence Tan is a Consultant with the Department of Geriatric Medicine, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. He has a keen interest in Clinical Ethics and is member of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital's Ethics Committee as well as the Singapore Medical Association Ethics Committee. He is also a Clinical Teacher with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
