Our team is interested in dementia assessment and intervention, and the genetics of longevity. Some popular ideas include the association of APOE allele and Alzheimer in a case-control study, butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) and Paraoxonase-1 (PON-1) genotypes among dementia patients and relationship between tea and curry consumption and dementia.
- Dr Ang Yan Hoon is interested in stroke and stroke rehabilitation, geriatric community services.
- Dr Philip Yap has a keen interest in the biomedical and social aspects of ageing, and has special research interest in the areas of dementia, end of life care, support of caregivers of elderly patients and the use of infocomms technology in geriatric care.
- Dr Wong Sweet Fun is interested in functional assessment and effects of health education in senior health and fitness. She also led a multi-disciplinary team to develop the interactive programme “Health for Older Persons”.
